Join attachment expert Heidi Priebe and certified Radical Honesty trainers Lindsay St. Antoine and Tony Shawcross for a tropical 7-day retreat in attachment healing and embodied honesty.
This retreat weaves together attachment theory and embodied honesty practices. Together, we will explore how attachment strategies live in the body, how they shape the ways we connect and disconnect, and how to begin practicing new relational choices in real time.
This residential retreat is a fully immersive experience — including daily light, casual yoga to ground the body, three healthy meals a day to keep you fueled, and private or shared accommodations in a stunning eco-retreat center surrounded by lush flora, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant wildlife.
Through guided exercises, relational practice, and honest group dialogue, you will begin to experience what secure attachment feels like—and how to embody it without self-abandonment.
Most retreats focus on attachment styles as labels or concepts. This week goes further: it is a practice-based immersion where theory meets body, again and again.
You will learn to:
 Our time together will include:
Because this is a residential retreat, there will also be daily space for rest, reflection, and connection in community. Meals, nature, and downtime will become part of the container, supporting a deeper and more sustainable transformation.
"Trying to master attachment theory and trying to heal our attachment trauma without approaching the integrative work might feel nice ... until we get triggered again. This workshop is a perfect marriage [of theory and practice]."
Day One: Uncover — The Cost of Staying Connected
Explore how survival strategies shaped your attachment and what they cost you in presence.
Day Two: Reveal — Body-First Honesty in Attachment Bonds
Practice nervous-system anchored truth-telling and begin to match words with the body.
Day Three: From Roles to Real
Examine the ways we perform connection and practice reclaiming presence, truth, and intimacy as we actually are.
Day Four: Meeting the Abandoned Parts
Discover the parts of yourself left behind to stay attached—and begin practicing listening to them.
Day Five: Conflict as Catalyst
Learn how rupture and tension can become doorways into deeper intimacy when met with embodied honesty.
Day Six: Emergence — Practicing Secure Attachment
Experiment with conscious intimacy, tolerating discomfort while staying grounded in relationship.
Day Seven: Integration & Choice
Move from surviving connection into consciously creating it. Leave with embodied tools for secure intimacy and a renewed capacity to design how you want to love—and live.
" Heidi is exactly as I expected her to be in person. She's got such a command of the topic, but she's also really warm and personable. It feels like she knows you right off the bat, like you're already friends."
This residential retreat will take place at a retreat center in Costa Rica, with full lodging and meals included.
This workshop is for anyone who’d like to gain more knowledge about attachment theory, and for those who are ready to move beyond theory and into lived experience—those who not only want to understand attachment, but who want to gain new skills to practice secure, body-centered connection.
The workshop will likely be a great fit for you if you love Heidi’s YouTube videos and you’ve been eager for opportunities to practice what you’re learning!
This intensive is LGBTQ+ affirming and welcoming to people of all identities and backgrounds. We are committed to creating a space where everyone can show up fully and truthfully.
Please note: The practices we’ll use are experiential and can be emotionally challenging for some participants. You can expect moments of strong language and occasional raised voices—always held within a safe, supportive container. We invite the full range of human expression, while also teaching tools to stay grounded and connected in the process.
This workshop may not be a fit for you if you find strong language or swearing offensive, or if you are currently experiencing strong emotional triggers that make it difficult to be around intense feelings and expressions in others.
This is not a therapy group and does not replace professional mental health care. If you are under the care of a therapist or other mental health provider, we encourage you to consult with them about whether this workshop is an appropriate fit for you at this time.
Cascada Elysiana, San José Province, Pérez Zeledón, Costa Rica
For information on how to get here, see the FAQs at the bottom of this page.Â
Shared rooms, private rooms in shared homes, and private cabins are available.
Price ranges from $3500 USD to $8000 USD depending on the accommodations you choose. All options include 3 meals/day and workshop sessions.
Â
What are the accommodations like at the retreat center and how much will it cost?
Cost for the retreat depends on the accommodations you choose and range from $3500 per person for shared bunkhouse* sleeping arrangements with shared compost toilet bathrooms and outdoor showers, up to $8000 per person for a private home with A/C. You can find photos and details about all of the options here.Â
*The shared bunkhouse and private glamping tent options will not be appropriate for everyone. If you have been to CR before, you’re familiar with the heat and extreme humidity, and have spent time there visiting/living without A/C and you were comfortable, then this option may be for you. Many (most?) people will not be comfortable camping, essentially, for this retreat. Please check in with us before choosing the bunkhouse or glamping tents for your stay.
"If you have anything in you saying, 'I’m kind of interested in this and I’m kind of scared' … just do it. Follow that impulse. It’s changed my life."
The easiest way to get to the retreat center is by flying into San José’s Juan SantamarĂa International Airport (SJO). From there, it’s about a 3.5-hour drive to Cascada Elysiana through beautiful, scenic terrain with plenty of interesting places to stop along the way.
We’ll help you coordinate travel with other participants arriving around the same time so you can share a ride if you’d like. If you prefer to arrange your own transportation, we can provide contact information for a trusted local taxi company or you’re welcome to choose your own option. Taxi rides generally cost $100–$150, and sharing a ride is encouraged.
Please note that renting a car is not recommended, as parking at the retreat center is limited. For any offsite group excursions during the retreat, transportation will be provided.
We’ll have a dedicated indoor session space in one of the homes with A/C.
Depending on where you’re staying at the retreat center, it may take you 10-15 minutes to walk to the session space. When in this space we’ll be sitting in chairs in a circle, and we encourage you to bring what you’ll need to sit comfortably and take good care of yourself (we’ll have some pillows, etc to help with this and will encourage standing, stretching, etc during sessions, as much as you need/want).
Depending on the weather, group energy and mood, etc. we’ll do some sessions in various outdoor areas.Â
*Unfortunately the workshop session space is not wheelchair accessible due to a somewhat long, steep, and uneven hike to the space, and that is the case for much of the retreat center.
Walking from the Main Lodge (where we’ll have all of our meals) to our session space is, “The equivalent of climbing about 8 flights of stairs on uneven ground.”
We’ll be at the Cascada Elysiana Retreat Center in the Southern Pacific area of Costa Rica. Late January falls in the heart of the dry season, making it a beautiful time to visit. Expect warm, sunny days with temperatures typically ranging from 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and very little rain.
The retreat center is about a 30-minute drive from the nearest small town, Dominical, and the beach.
Our workshop sessions will end each night by 6pm, followed by dinner at the Lodge.
After that, you’re free to spend the evening as you’d like. Some folks like to have alone time to rest and recharge after the intense days with the group, and others like to keep the action going.Â
Some evening options:
Staying at Cascada Elysiana and hanging out on your own
Participating in optional peer-led evening sessions that *may*Â be offered in the workshop space
Hanging out at the Lodge with other participants and guests
If you arrange transportation, you can head out to Dominical, the small town about 30 minutes away from the retreat center.
*Although we won’t have a strict rule about abstaining from alcohol during the retreat, we do request that you take it easy with any alcohol you do consume in the evenings so you’ll be in good shape and feeling well for the workshop sessions.Â
Yes! Cascada Elysiana is a total natural wonderland and has creeks, cascades and small pools around the land, and a spectacular 190ft (58m) waterfall which is a 10-15 min hike from the Main Lodge. It’s considered an Easy/Moderate hike, and is unfortunately NOT wheelchair accessible, as it’s located deep in the mountain.
The power of the falls varies throughout the year, depending on rainfall and whether it’s the dry or wet season.
